Questions, corrections, feedback

Send a note about a calculator result, a guide figure that looks out of date, or a deduction question. Every message reaches a person who reads it.
What reaches us, and when you hear back
Questions about the calculators, corrections to a guide, or feedback about something that didn't work the way you expected all belong here. If your question is about your own tax situation or a specific paystub discrepancy, a licensed professional is a better resource than we are.
Messages we can act on
Report a figure or a result
A guide number that looks out of date, a calculator result that doesn't match a paystub, or a deduction handled in a way you didn't expect. Include the state, filing status, and pay frequency you used so we can reproduce it.
How long a reply takes
Mostly a few business days
We read every message. Questions that need a calculation checked against source rules can take longer, so if your note is time-sensitive, say so in the subject line and we'll prioritize it where we can.
Corrections from readers
Tell us where you saw it
Guides and calculators are updated when the underlying rules change or when someone spots a discrepancy. Reader corrections are one of the most reliable ways we catch problems, since the same figure can be right for one state and wrong for another.
Send a message
One form, and the details we actually need
The more specific the note, the faster we can check it. For a calculation question, name the calculator and the numbers you entered. For a guide correction, quote the line and link the page you were reading. Screenshots are welcome if you can attach one, but a written description usually gets us there.
- Which tool or guide you were using
- State, filing status, and pay frequency, when a number is involved
- What you expected and what you saw instead
- A subject line that flags anything time-sensitive
Where our help stops
We can explain how a calculation works. We can't review your return or tell you what to claim on a W-4.
Those questions depend on details we don't have and a professional relationship we don't hold. What we can do is walk through the arithmetic behind a figure, point you to the section of a guide that covers it, and flag when something has changed in the rules since a page was last reviewed. If you need advice about a specific financial decision, a licensed tax or financial professional is the right place to take it.

The office, the phone, and the hours we answer it
Phone messages are monitored during normal business hours. For anything involving a screenshot or a specific calculation, the form is a better route because it lets you include the details.

Common questions about reaching us
A few things people ask before they send a message, answered here so you can skip the wait if your question is already covered.
Will someone reply to my message?
Yes. We read every message that comes through the form. Most get a reply within a few business days, though questions that require checking a calculation against source rules can take longer. If your message is time-sensitive, say so in the subject line.
What should I include if I'm reporting an error?
Tell us which page or calculator you were on, the figure you saw, and what you expected instead. If a number is involved, include the state, filing status, and pay frequency you used, because the same figure can be right for one situation and wrong for another.
Can you tell me what to put on my W-4?
We can't, and we'd be doing you a disservice if we tried. What we can do is explain how withholding is calculated and point you to the guide section that walks through it, so you can make the choice with better information.
Do you take suggestions for new guides?
Yes, and they're useful. If there's a part of paycheck math or budgeting you keep having to piece together from scattered sources, describe the question you're trying to answer. Suggestions that name a specific situation are easier for us to turn into something worth publishing.
While you're here, the calculators are open
If your question is about a number, you can usually find the answer faster by running it yourself. Both tools walk through the same steps our guides describe, and every page explains what goes into the result.
Still stuck after that? The form above reaches us directly, and the About Us page explains how the tools and guides are put together.
